So there was a conference of mayors happening in Washington from February 20th to 23rd. There was a mayor, by the name of Lori Lightfoot, who was one of the moderators of the conference. She’s from Chicago, and she had a lot to say about the chaos happening up yonder. She mentioned that a few days before the conference, there was a shooting in a barber shop. A man came inside the shop, had a confrontation with the barber, and then went out and shot the whole damn place. She mentioned that there were 2 brothers – ages 11 and 12 – who were getting their hair there, and they got caught in it.
Now as tragic as that is, the bigger tragedy is the blame game that these politicians play. She said, and I quote, “the bottom line is, there are way too many guns out there.” Well ok I guess my gun as being a part of US Marshall should be counted in it as well, which is why this whole story struck a chord close to my heart.
I think that defining this jackass term in your of “Gun Violence” in your dictionary and blaming it every time someone pulls a trigger is a bunch of bullshit. In my work as a Marshall, we caught high risk civilians, and brought them to justice. Now can any of you kids tell me what in the hell a high-risk civilian is? It means a person who is not fit to be in American society because they’ve severe violent tendencies or history with hurting the peace in the society. They are unfit for the society because they are too dangerous to everyone’s safety. I know this better than anyone, because my wife was one of these people and I always turned a blind eye towards it. I got what I deserve for it, but you can read my background if you don’t know what I’m talking about. The point being that everyone, including them mayors, is turning a blind eye to an important fact. The criminal just didn’t come and start shooting like a hooligan. He had a MOTIVE. He quarreled with the barber and was upset about his conversation and shot the place in his anger or pain or whatever he felt. It don’t make sense to blame a presence of a firearm in his pockets with his action of shooting the place. He is a high-risk civilian.
Guns in the hands of high-risk civilians is the reasons why we have tragic headlines like what we saw in Chicago. What makes a man with a gun dangerous, are his intentions, not his gun. Look at me! Am I dangerous because the government gave me a firearm, and I must keep it at my side at all times? No! I would be dangerous and possibly cause headlines if I had sinister intentions. Guns are an outlet. So are knives. So are hammers. So are bats. Now we start blaming and banning those and now chefs are out of business, so are repairmen, so are baseball players. The fuck you gon watch on the weekends now? Tennis? Maybe you can use a tennis racket to murder someone, now would you make that illegal too?
I do agree that guns are a way to do the killing the fastest and most conveniently out of all the methods. But when your wife wakes you up saying she’s hearing noises from downstairs and your children are hiding in your bed. You wish would be holding a peace rather than a peace sign.
