We went from having a threat of nuclear war, to a pandemic. If it was someone else, they would say the only thing remaining for this year is for the ground to crack open and Satan’s hounds to run around playing fetch with people. Even under these circumstances, the most important thing is to not loose stability. By stability, I mean the stability to think for yourself and not letting your head wander off in the darkness of chaos.
I developed this sense of stability, because of the things I’ve seen and been through. When I went through World War 2, liberating the cities and camps from Nazi control, I saw the senseless waste of life. I saw what humanity is capable of if nonsense is left unchecked and people start to believe it. My job as a US Marshall was an attempt at me trying to bring stability to the world by enforcing the justice. To me, those who have strayed far away from logic try to defy the society and sought to harm themselves or others. For example, at home my wife was schizophrenic and delusional, which is why she did horrible things. I disregarded this and ended up losing my children to it. I don’t want anyone else to fall into this trap where their minds to unthinkable things because they can’t think logically.
Many interesting people I’ve met have claimed that if you only talk about logical things, the world become dull and colorless, which is why you need emotions. My argument to that is that logic is a malleable and reliable tool to persuade anyone of anything. Emotion is a stronger and more extreme form of rhetoric. Once your mind is set on an emotion, it’s harder to sway your heart than it is to sway your mind.
I don’t argue for the end of emotion, but when it comes to major decisions like government, economics, social policies, we should listen more to logic and the experts. Doing so yields the best results possible for the majority. Due to this, there is an obvious minority that is formed, since nothing can be beneficial for 100% of the population. This is where emotion may be used to help in coming up with a middle ground between the majority and the minority.
No one should go through dark times to develop the ability to argue logically. This is why throughout my blogs and talks; I’ve helped people see beyond the nonsense fluffed news. You see with all this chaos that sometimes people might lose their way of thinking and search for a comforting lie. Through my analysis and talks, I try to talk about how people should come to their own comforting thoughts, which are logically sound. In this way, we avoid getting dragged into believing nonsense propaganda that pushes for a selfish agenda.
My message to all is like the one Beatles’ song, “Think for Yourself.” This may sound preachy, but when even the pastors have the agenda of making you donate to a cause, you can never truly trust anyone but yourself.
This is Teddy Daniels. Signing off.
