This blog is going to be written by Edward “Teddy” Daniels whose character is heavily based on the Andrew Laeddis from the novel ‘Shutter Island,’ which is written by Dennis Lehane (the novel was later adapted into a movie with the same title). He is a straightforward, no bullshit guy, with impressive defense mechanisms for responses. He speaks only when he needs to speak, and is reserved to himself, which makes him seem like he is brooding a lot (much like John Snow, but Daniels is actually good at it). Knowing his past makes a lot easier to understand why he is this way. He was born during the great depression in the rural dust bowl region of California, which is the reason for his slight accent. He served in the second world war as a part of the 67th infantry division. He was part of the division that helped liberate Dachau during the fall of Nazi Germany. This was a huge source of trauma for him for a couple of reasons. The division was a late in liberating the camp, because the Nazis were on scorch earth strategy and they increased their efforts of extermination. When they stormed the camp the guards had already surrendered their weapons. Upon seeing all the bodies, the soldiers rounded up the guards and shot them in cold blood. It had turned into something more than war … it was cold blooded murder. He blamed himself for not being able to save all those in the camp and their memory haunts him in his delusional episodes. When he came back, he became a US Marshall in Massachusetts. The trauma didn’t stop there; his wife had severe delusional and schizophrenia tendencies. She burnt down their house, killing 2 people in the process. She was never caught for the incident though. Daniels moved to a lake house with his earnings. When he was out on one of his assignments, his wife had one of the worst episodes and drowned their 3 kids in the lake. She was moved to a mental hospital, where Daniels never visits her, because he blames himself for everything and is in deep trauma and grief.
Long story short here’s Daniels’ description as interpreted by my friend: He’s an edgy boi because he’s seen and been through some serious shit
